The ecosystem

A company that builds, advises, and backs.

GK Tech Ventures is not a consultancy with a side project. It's a company that builds its own products, sells the judgment that comes from doing so, and occasionally puts money and time behind founders working on something adjacent.

How it works

Three things, and they feed each other.

This is the same structure I ran last time. Notation Software Labs was the company; CommerceUp was its product; the services work funded the build and the build made the advice worth paying for. It worked, so I'm running it again.

01

Build

Convertly is the current one — a Shopify-native commerce product covering creator discovery, campaigns, storefronts, attribution and payouts. Building it is what keeps everything else current: I'm in the Shopify Admin API, the payout rails and the AI tooling this quarter, not remembering what they were like three years ago.

02

Advise

Fractional product and engineering leadership, executive advisory, and hands-on delivery through the studio. This is what the company sells today, and it's what pays for the building. Recent work has spanned banking GRC, quick-commerce marketplaces, infrastructure security and consumer mobile.

03

Back

Occasionally, capital and time behind founders solving something adjacent — commerce, fintech, creator infrastructure, AI-native products. Deliberately selective and deliberately early. I'd rather be genuinely useful to a small number of companies than be a name on a cap table.

What we're building

Convertly.

A Shopify-native creator-commerce platform. It discovers and recruits creators from a brand’s own customers, social search, an opt-in network and inbound applicants; runs campaigns and content; gives every creator a shoppable storefront; attributes every sale; and pays commissions — driven by AI agents where the human approves rather than operates.

Live on the Shopify App Store. Built by one person plus AI tooling, which is the honest evidence behind everything this company says about AI-native delivery.

Why it matters to a client

An advisor who stopped building three years ago is giving you 2023’s answer. The attribution edge cases, the payout rails, the App Store review process and the real cost of shipping with AI are all things I’m dealing with now.

It also means I’m spending my own money on the same decisions I’m advising you on, which tends to sharpen the advice.

iii

Working with founders

Mentoring, partnering, and the occasional cheque.

Where I’m useful

  • Founders going from services to product, or enterprise to SMB
  • Commerce, fintech, marketplace and creator infrastructure
  • Teams building an India engineering org against a US or UK market
  • First-time founders who need someone who has already sold a company
  • Operators deciding whether to build, buy, or not do it at all

Being straight about it

The investing side is early and deliberately small. I’m not running a fund, there is no portfolio page here, and if you’re looking for a lead investor I’m the wrong call.

What I can offer is time, an operator’s read, and introductions to people I’ve actually worked with — with money behind it where there’s a genuine fit. Mentoring costs nothing and I do a reasonable amount of it.
